This is just another food blog, until you realize that I’m living and cooking in Shanghai and learning to live like the locals. I go to both the local markets and the foreign markets, and I come home to whip up something for two in a kitchen with a broken oven.

It presents many challenges – learning how to ask for ingredients in Chinese cooking for only two people without wasting food, keeping the gas oven from exploding (or less melodramatically, burning the bottom of everything) – which I’m looking forward to overcoming.

I’ll show you the Shanghai markets, what’s available here, a cooking class or two, and of course, the food.
